Aviator — Mistaken identity since 2004.

October 3, 2005

It’s 10:oo AM. Do you know where your email address is?

Back in the infancy of gmail, before the namespace was polluted, I was pretty happy to score the profile “Aviator.” I had hoped to score the same on blogspot.com, but some lame-o camped it, and never used it (see my blog post).

Turns out it is a bit too common of a word. You see, almost immediately I started getting mail for some guy named Avi — last name Ator (or some near spelling). I sent a nice note to his mom explaining that I was not her son.

Recently I got an over due notice from a library in Virginia. I had to call to let them know they had been given a bad email address — although the real address looks pretty comfy.

Today is my best mistaken identity yet (or a clever email address scavenging scheme). Out of the blue, I get an email with the administrative password to this blog! Whoo hoo.

Maybe I’ll move my “why I fly” series from blogspot over to here, just for the cooler URL.
